Ahoy Matey! The theme for our April Barkbox was BarkBeard's Treasure - A Pirate's Tail (so cute!). We find that it's usually the toys that follow the month's theme, and this month was no exception! Even the Barkbox itself was designed like a treasure box! The box included two toys, two treats, one large chew, and a bonus pirate bandana! Unfortunately, we were not able to estimate the value of our box because our two bags of treats were not listed on the barkshop website. Please read on to see what was included in our boxes, as well as a code for a FREE Barkbox!
TREATS:
Bff Bones - Fish 'n' Chips Medley (Net wt. 4 oz/113.4 g)
- All-natural dog treats - corn, wheat, and soy free
- Made up of freeze dried whitefish and crunchy, heart-shaped salmon biscuits
- Family owned and baked in the USA
- Baked Biscuits - Ingredients: Barley flour, salmon, salmon oil, parsley, mixed tocopherols (added to maintain freshness)
- Freeze Dried Whitefish - Ingredients: Whitefish
- This treat was the boys' favourite treat of the month. They absolutely loved the freeze dried whitefish, and would do trick after trick for these!
Yo! Ho! Ho! Pawrates Bounty (Net wt. 5 oz/142 g)
- Grain-free treats
- Soft & chewy in texture
- Made in the USA
- Ingredients: Beef, chickpeas, tapioca starch, vegetable glycerin, peas, potatoes, ground flaxseed, bacon, blackstrap molasses, salt, pork stock, citric acid, acetic acid, natural smoke flavour, mixed tocopherols
- The boys enjoyed this bag of treats as well, but we found that the treats were too big for training purposes. We had to break each piece apart to make them smaller, and parts of the treat would crumble into a big mess.
Etta Says! Liver Chew (value: $4 USD)
- Crunchy 10" liver chew
- Grain-free
- Made by Treat Planet in the USA
- Ingredients: Beef ligament and beef liver
- Both Bear and Momo loved this treat, but it didn't last very long for Bear (he's got strong teeth and a super powerful jaw haha). Momo, on the other hand, was able to gnaw on this chew for more than a few seconds. The boys give this chew a 10/10 in terms of taste!
TOYS:
Ahoy Matey Bottle (value: $10 USD) is made up of a t-shirt rope that is threaded through a plush bottle that squeaks. This toy is Momo and Bear's favourite of this month's Barkbox, because they actually love to play tug-of-war with each other! This toy also flies quite well through the air, so it is also perfect for playing fetch with the boys.
Redbird the Parrot (value: $12 USD) is the other toy included in this month's Barkbox. We think this toy has the cutest design! The parrot is made up of a full-body squeaker and filled with fluff, and the wings have a crinkly sound when being gnawed on.
MISC:
This month, we got a surprise 6th item in the box! A bandana! We haven't received an accessory item in our box for quite some time so this was a pleasant surprise. The bandana fits both dogs, and it makes for a fun prop for photoshoots. Look how cute Momo looks in it!
