Pooch Selfie

A couple of weeks ago, we received a package from the folks at Pooch Selfie asking us to review their product. Our package included a custom cell phone clip attachment as well as a removable squeaking Pooch Selfie ball. According to their website, “the Pooch Selfie takes advantage of a dog’s natural draw and focus to a tennis ball and uses this focus to hold their gaze as you snap away that perfect portrait picture.” Basically, this product was created with the goal of helping humans take better pictures/selfies with their pets.

Here are some more info:

  • Retails for $12.99 USD
  • Specifically designed to be used with iPhones and Galaxy phones (but universally compatible with most smartphones and tablets)
  • Allows for switching between selfie and portrait photos without needing to remove the attachment
  • Designed, invented, and assembled in the USA (developed by Clever Dog Products LLC.)

To be perfectly honest, when we first received the product, we were a bit skeptical of it. Since Loki generally has no trouble looking at the camera, we tried the Pooch Selfie on Loki’s super camera-shy friend, Chowby. Whenever a camera or phone appeared in front of Chowby, he would run the other way. To our pleasant surprise, we were able to capture quite a few good shots (I have attached a super cute photo of him below). We squeaked the ball a few times initially to gain his complete focus, and then the ball was placed back into the attachment. We were able to grab his attention for at least 30 seconds to take some great photos! This product is also quite useful for Loki when we are at the dog park, where other dogs and small animals can be quite distracting. The best part of the Pooch Selfie is that the ball can be detached and thrown as a reward for the dog after sitting perfectly still for the photo. We call this a big win-win! Thanks Pooch Selfie!
